SEAT revealed a first pictures of its new mid-size sedan. SEAT Exeo look like cheap redesigned Audi. Exeos will feature cruise control, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, dual zone climate control, USB connectivity and alloy wheels as standard.

SEAT UK Exeo Product Manager James Buckell said: “The fitting of luxurious features such as dual zone climate control across the entire range, as well as convenience additions such as USB connectivity, underlines our determination to make our new saloon a particularly well-specified drive.”

The new four-door sedan is scheduled to go on sale in spring of 2009. Available engine options will include 102HP 1.6-liter and 200HP 2.0 TFSI units as well as three turbo diesels with outputs ranging from 120 to 170HP.

SEAT Tribu

What are you think abot that three-door SUV pictured above? It’s SEAT’s new concept, called Tribu.

In similar circumstances to the Mazda MX-5 sketches, these production-ready drawings were registered by SEAT at the patent office.

The most significant change in the transition from show car to production is the addition of two extra doors. But aside from a more practical layout, the distinctive SEAT front grille, flared wheelarches and gently tapered roofline remain largely unchanged.

Predicted to go on sale in early 2010, the Tribu will be based on its VW Tiguan stablemate. Customers can expect a similar choice of 1.4 and 2.0-litre TSI petrol engines, or a 2.0 TDI.

SEAT Ibiza Cupra

SEAT Ibiza Cupra

SEAT has unveiled its sporty Cupra model that is equipped with the latest version of the VW Group’s 1.4-liter TSI engine. The new twin-turbo engine now delivers 180 HP and is mated to a seven speed DSG gearbox with steering wheel shift-paddles. SEAT say that while developing the same output as the 1.8-liter turbo in the previous generation Ibiza Cupra, the new engine delivers a noteworthy reduction in emission levels and fuel consumption thanks to its smaller cylinder capacity.

Compared to the other Ibiza SportCoupe versions, the new Cupra gets a aggressive bodykit with new a front bumper that features a lip spoiler and air intake vents surrounding the central grille, 17-inch alloy wheels and a newly designed rear bumper with an integrated difusser and a centrally placed trapezoid tailpipe. Oddly enough, and although the Cupra is the top-of-the-range model in the Ibiza line-up, it does not get side skirts.

SEAT Ibiza SportCoupe

SEAT Ibiza SportCoupe

SEAT has unveiled its new Ibiza SportCoupe, the stylish three-door addition to the model range.

The Ibiza SportCoupe takes inspiration from the Bocanegra concept, and it will go on sale in the autumn 2008. Prices start in Europe at around $10,000 for the entry-level three-cylinder 69bhp 1.2-litre model.

An 84bhp 1.4-litre, and a 103bhp 1.6-litre units will also be available, while other engines, including the diesels and a mooted 170bhp 1.4-litre super-turbo Cupra model are set to be introduced in 2009.

SEAT also revealed the Leon Emocion. Based on the Reference model, it gets more equipment. It adds 16-inch alloys and front foglights, plus steering wheel-mounted audio controls, and is powered by either a 1.6-litre petrol or 1.9-litre diesel. The newcomer costs from £13,250 for the 1.6 petrol, rising to £14,350 for the 1.9 TDI.

The SEAT squad unveiled a new diesel Leon TDI for the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship. But disappointing results last time out at Croft have dropped Plato and team-mate Darren Turner to fourth and eighth in the drivers’ championship.

“It’s going to be tough,” admitted Plato. “But we had a disaster at Croft – and it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that someone else could have an equally poor weekend.

“We have to make every opportunity count in the second half of the season.”

Seat EXEO B-Segment Sedan

SEAT announced today that it’s planning to expand its line-up with all-new B-Segment sedan model called “EXEO”. The EXEO scheduled to be launched in 2009.

The Seat was clear in last year’s press release concerning the mid-size sedan that it belongs to the C/D segment (Skoda Octavia). So having that in mind, we’re led to believe that the EXEO might be the spiritual successor to the Cordoba Sedan and if so, it will probably be based on the new SEAT Ibiza platform.

PRESS RELEASE

COMPETING IN THE B-SEGMENT

In addition to the saloon, there will be a family version

To be wholly manufactured at the Martorell plant

SEAT’s new saloon car will be called “EXEO”. Its market launch that is scheduled for 2009 marks a new highlight in the history of the Spanish brand, which is expanding its model range towards new segments. The SEAT EXEO is an elegant, dynamic saloon with high quality and outstanding technology that faithfully reflects SEAT’s personality – design, sportiness and liveliness.

The name EXEO is advanced, forceful and technological, which signals excellence and is highly suggestive of driving pleasure.

Faithful to SEAT’s Mediterranean roots, the new name stems from the Latin word “Exire”, meaning ‘to go beyond’, ‘to go further’. The name differs from all the other range denominations, and indicates the beginning of a new period for the company, that takes the brand into an all new segment. The successful names of the models of the current range will be maintained.

The SEAT EXEO is a B-segment model which does not replace the SEAT Toledo.

Seat Ibiza SportCoupe

Seat Ibiza SportCoupe

Seat unveiled the three-door variant of the new Ibiza that will bear the “SportCoupe” insignia. The production version of the Bocanegra concept is slightly shorter (4.034 vs 4.052 mm) and lower (1.428 vs 1.445 mm) than its 5door sibling while it also features a different C-pillar design. But other than that and despite the promising name, the SportCoupe is practically an Ibiza minus two doors.

The new Seat Ibiza SportCoupe is equipped with the VW Group’s new seven-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox on its 105 hp 1.6 version for the first time in this segment. When it goes on sale in Europe this fall, the SportCoupe’s engine range will also include an 80Hp 1.4-liter petrol and 90Hp 1.9-liter diesel units.

The Ibiza SportCoupe will make its public debut at this month’s British Motor Show in London.

Bocanegra

Bocanegra

SEAT has has confirmed it will be putting the Bocanegra concept into production. The Bocanegra – ‘black mouth’ in Spanish – features a striking Perspex-trimmed face. It previewed the three-door version of the new Ibiza, which will be badged SportCoupe when it goes on sale in November. And the Bocanegra’s nose will appear on a flagship Cupra variant, which is due in 2009.

The hot hatch will have real road presence, thanks to the neat transparent housing for the xenon headlights, as well as the big vents that feed cool air to the engine.

The Cupra will also get the same ground-hugging bodykit, plus a panoramic glass sunroof. Power should come from the 1.4-litre twin-turbo FSI petrol engine which appeared in the concept. This will have around 180bhp and be mated to a seven-speed semi-automatic DSG gearbox.

Spy photographers have caught the first undisguised test mule of the new SEAT Ibiza FR out testing.

Take a look at this five-door Seat Ibiza. In an effort to keep a low profile, engineers have used an essentially standard bodyshell. Expect the production version of the hot hatch to feature a sporty bodykit and range of eye-catching colours.

No details have been released about engines, but candidates are the 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the 168bhp 2.0-litre TDI unit from the larger Leon.

The rapid FR will be followed by an even quicker Cupra version of the new supermini. Based on the forthcoming Sport Coupe three-door it will be heavily influenced by the stunning Bocanegra concept that debuted at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

There’s no official word on when the first fast Ibiza FR will be launched, but expect to see in showrooms at the end of the year.

SEAT Ibiza promotional tour

New SEAT Ibiza Hits the Road Aboard a Truck

The all-new SEAT Ibiza hatch has begun a promotional tour in the UK aboard a specially-created, SEAT-branded transporter truck.

The tour, which kicked off April 10 from York, includes stops at SEAT dealerships and other key venues along the way. The idea behind SEAT UK’s promotional tour is simply to give Brits a closer view of SEAT new supermini car ahead of its market debut that’s set for late July.
