What are you think abot that three-door SUV pictured above? It’s SEAT’s new concept, called Tribu.
In similar circumstances to the Mazda MX-5 sketches, these production-ready drawings were registered by SEAT at the patent office.
The most significant change in the transition from show car to production is the addition of two extra doors. But aside from a more practical layout, the distinctive SEAT front grille, flared wheelarches and gently tapered roofline remain largely unchanged.
Predicted to go on sale in early 2010, the Tribu will be based on its VW Tiguan stablemate. Customers can expect a similar choice of 1.4 and 2.0-litre TSI petrol engines, or a 2.0 TDI.

The new twin-turbo engine now delivers 180 HP and is mated to a seven speed DSG gearbox with steering wheel shift-paddles. SEAT say that while developing the same output as the 1.8-liter turbo in the previous generation Ibiza Cupra, the new engine delivers a noteworthy reduction in emission levels and fuel consumption thanks to its smaller cylinder capacity.
Compared to the other Ibiza SportCoupe versions, the new Cupra gets a aggressive bodykit with new a front bumper that features a lip spoiler and air intake vents surrounding the central grille, 17-inch alloy wheels and a newly designed rear bumper with an integrated difusser and a centrally placed trapezoid tailpipe. Oddly enough, and although the Cupra is the top-of-the-range model in the Ibiza line-up, it does not get side skirts.
